Lessons from the BRUTAL RAPE of an 8 year old girl

Just a week or so ago after parts of our country was devastated by Hurricane Tomas, the news of the brutal rape of a Class 3 student in Suva at the early hours of morning begs a lot of questions of where the moral fabric of our society is heading?

As we sympathise with the mother of the girl, not having at hand the full knowledge of the circumstances of their family or the state of the mother that fateful morning, there are matters we want to raise that we have knowledge of, and that is simple -

the RAPE of an 8 year old girl can have similarities to the RAPE OF OUR DEMOCRACY!

Some may say What? How come?

Well, it is simple. When a fully grown MAN decide upon himself that because he is bigger and more powerful (that is having GUNS!) than his victim (a defenseless group of people) and will therefore use his GUN POWER to forcefully take the rights, choices and freedom of its victim away from them, the brutality of the scars left on the victim is the same as those physically, emotionally and psychologically left on this 8 year old girl.

This may sound unsympathetic and it makes us wonder how can God let something like this happen. Well all we have to do is look to history. Remember the Angel of Death that passed through Eygpt at the dead of night watching out for doors smeared with lamb's blood to spare the lives of the first born child in the home of the Jews?

Yes, the Devil can make unfathomable things happen in our society, so, we can look AROUND us and WITHIN us to realise that all the Evil that is happening in our country has been manifested in RAPISTS -
those that RAPE WOMEN and CHILDREN,
and those who
RAPE OUR RIGHTS, CHOICES, FREEDOM - DEMOCRACY!!!!!

Bainimarama SHOULD learn from civil/religious society HOW THINGS WORK!

This report published in today's FijiVillage (and FijiLive) is ANOTHER lesson to Voreqe and his ILLEGAL leaders that those of us who TREASURE PEACE and RESPECT OTHERS go about changes in our organisations etc in civil ways that promote PEACE and PROSPERITY for all. The ways are embedded in our Constitutions or various rules of engagement! Thus, unlike him and his cohorts who STOLE POWER BY THE BARRELS OF THEIR GUNS, we don't just make changes at whim because we don't like what's going on. We follow democratic chains of command to make changes.

CA GONE NA VIAVIA KILA MACAWA!!!

The decision by the Methodist NOT TO BE BULLIED INTO SUBMISSION by Voreqe should be a clear message to Voreqe, that his bullying ways in trying to obtain, attain and maintain power is NOT THE CIVIL / RELIGIOUS SOCIETIES way of bringing about change. We have mechanisms in place that promotes peaceful transition from one to another, whether it is change in leadership or structure, so, there is minimal upheaval in the transformation, thus, maximising the best possible change that is effective and efficient.

And shame on Methodist ministers like the Rev. Epeli Nawadra for wanting to bow down to the bullying tactics of a dictator!

(Quote) Acting general secretary Reverend Epeli Nawadra said the Government wanted to work with the church in taking Fiji forward and because of that ‘they wanted people who they could work with’.

“It was suggested that we change the leadership of the church and we have asked the President and the General Secretary to step aside.

“The two ministers were also present at the meeting and they have asked that they be given some time,” Rev Nawadra told FijiLive. (Unquote)

Tugawe remains Methodist Church President Publish date/time: 25/03/2010 [17:06]
The Methodist Church of Fiji will still have Ame Tugawe as President and Tuikilakila Waqairatu as the church General Secretary.

In a meeting yesterday attended by 132 church ministers and Stewarts, some of the church ministers proposed that the current church leaders step down and new appointments be made.

Acting General Secretary, Reverand Tevita Nawadra said it will not be possible to make changes to the current leadership because under the church constitution the only place where they can ask for changes is during the Annual Conference.

Yesterday the church ministers met with Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama and senior military officers where he had made it clear that the Annual Conference and circuit meetings will be held in 2014.

Bainimarama added that any issues regarding the church will have to be discussed during yesterday's meeting.

WE SAY IT'S TIME THE METHODIST LEADERSHIP FOLLOW THEIR RELIGIOUS LEADERS BEFORE THEM, AND TAKE CHARGE IN TELLING VOREQE THAT HIS WAY WILL DEFINITELY NOT BE THEIR WAY!

How can a LANDOWNER be a TENANT, unless they choose to?

We must say these landowners who have been told to pay rent that dates back to 2000 should really get a good lawyer to fight their cause or they themselves should put up a good fight.

What was the assumption when these landowners took back their land back in 2000, in terms of HAVING to cultivate them so our nation can have some $$$$$?

Why is it still under NLTB jurisdiction when the landowners took them back, for them to owe NLTB rent in lease arrears as reported?

 Landowners owe $3.6m

Mereseini Marau
Wednesday, March 24, 2010 (Fiji Times)

"NLTB: 2764 cane leases are held by i-taukei tenants" I-TAUKEIS ARE LANDOWNERS IN THEIR OWN RIGHT. OTHER I-TAUKEIS WHO HAVE MOVED FROM THEIR ANCESTRAL HOMES MAYBE TENANTS FOR THESE I-TAUKEIS.
LANDOWNERS who failed to plant cane on land they took back from tenants now owe the Native Land Trust Board $3.6million in lease arrears. WERE THEY SUPPOSE TO PLANT CANE? WHOSE RULE WAS THAT?
NLTB general manager Alipate Qetaki confirmed this, saying the lease arrears dated back to 2000.
He encouraged those farmers to lease out their land if they could not cultivate it, but warned that as a last option the NLTB would re-possess the land for leasing by either re-entry or vacant possession through the courts. WHAT IS THIS FORCETAKI!!!!
Mr Qetaki said those landowners were supposed to pay rent.
He said of the 14,418 agricultural leases, there were 8763 cane leases of which 2764 were held by i-taukei tenants and 5999 by non i-taukei tenants.
"The exact figures for landowners leasing their own land are not available, but out of the 2764 i-taukei cane farmers, the bulk are landowners," he said.
Mr Qetaki explained that rental payments were to come from cane payments made to NLTB by the Fiji Sugar Corporation through the Master Award.
"When there are no cane proceeds due to non-cultivation or insufficient cane proceeds, NLTB rent is not paid. When there is no cane to harvest to the mill, then there is no cane payment," Mr Qetaki said.
He said tenants should find other sources of income to pay rent from if rent could not come from cane payments.
"Tenants are expected to pay rent," he said.
Mr Qetaki encouraged those landowners to visit the nearest NLTB regional office to make arrangements for payments in order to honour their agreement.
He said tenants incurred a 1 per cent interest per month if they defaulted on rent. Mr Qetaki said the Committee of Better Utilisation of Land was looking into unproductive cane farms and land.
"There are programs in place to utilise these lands productively," he said, with the first stage being identification of available land.
Commissioner Western and CIBUL chairman Commander Joeli Cawaki said they were consulting landowners over the importance of leasing land out to salvage the sugar industry. YES! DONE BY FORCE BY ANOTHER COMMANDER OF THE DISGRACED FIJI HOOLIGANTARY!
He said most land was idle in the Western Division and could be put to good use if diverted for use for the sugar industry.
He said that was in line with the government's policy on the sugar industry. YEAH!!!!! THE SUGAR INDUSTRY WHO UNDER YOUR OWN RAPE OF OUR RIGHTS AND FREEDOM, HAD TO SUFFER THE CONSEQUENCES OF YOUR BULLIYING ACTIONS AND LACK OF RESPECT FOR OTHERS. THE SUGAR INDUSTRY HAD BEEN DOING WELL WITH AIDS FROM OVERSEAS, WHICH WE ALWAYS NEED, BUT WITH YOUR DICTATORSHIP NO OVERSEAS AID DONOR IS WILLING TO FUND YOUR ILLEGAL DOINGS. THUS, YOU HAVE TO RESORT TO HARDLINE TACTICS LIKE THREATENING LANDOWNERS TO PAY RENT OR YOU WILL GET AN ORDER FROM YOUR ILLEGAL COURTS TO ENFORCE YOUR INHUMAE ACTIONS!

LET'S HOPE FOR THE BEST FOR THESE LANDOWNERS!!!

How will Voreqe be remembered by our young children? To OBLIVION and beyond!

We don't know about you, but for us this picture and its accompanying caption and the story that went with it speaks VOLUME about the history that Voreqe will leave behind after all the mess he created has been fixed, by elected leaders who are loved, respected and mean something to the people of Fiji. Here is the picture and caption (with our inclusion) courtesy of the Sunday Times.

Wainigadru villager Nina, 2, poses for our photographer oblivious to the visit by the ILLEGAL head of government Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama.

The story then went on to its opening line as this:

Sweet surprise for north villagers

Sunday, March 21, 2010

DEVASTATED children of Wainigadru village within Tawake District in Cakaudrove received a sweet surprise when Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama walked in with a truckload of sweet biscuits.

Come on! Is Voreqe now playing Father Christmas or something? This is what that SHOULD BE DONE ANYWAY! Why make it into such a BIG DEAL SURPRISE even if the truckload of sweet biscuits was not part of the ration. It is STILL part of donations made by the people in Suva to assist in the food programme that the people in the North SHOULD receive as victims of Cyclone Tomas.

Now, remember when Voreqe and his followers told the people of Yasawa after Cyclone Mick that his military regime will not give them food rations?
No food for victims (Fiji Times)

Government will not provide food rations for those who were affected by the floods during Cyclone Mick.

Deputy Commisioner Central Samu Sadranu said whatever money was allocated for assistance should be prioritised for schools, which sustained considerable damage.

'Send us food please' (Fiji Times)

Tuesday, January 26, 2010

VILLAGERS on two islands in the Yasawa Group are asking for food.

"Plantations were destroyed during the cyclone. We have had to ask our relatives living on the mainland to send even root crops across," he said. "We request that ration supplies like flour and rice be supplied to the islands."

BAINIMARAMA: DON’T ASK FOR HANDOUTS
Military leader says Fijians must fend for themselves
By Felix Chaudhary (http://pidp.eastwestcenter.org/pireport/2010/February/02-11-09.htm)
SUVA, Fiji (Fiji Times, Feb. 10, 2010) - THERE will be no more handouts of food rations, unless extremely necessary, and government funding to build village halls and churches will cease in Fiji.

This firm announcement - in support of the children of Fiji - was made by army commander Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama during an impromptu visit and private meeting with the villagers of Naboro and Yalobi in the Yasawa group.

When the villagers tried to press the issue by pointing to the destruction of food, farms and infrastructure during Cyclone Mick late last year, Cmdre Bainimarama told them that they should take the initiative and not wait for government handouts.

"Government will not assist in the construction of village halls and churches and giving out food rations unless extremely necessary," he said.
"The halls and churches are projects best undertaken by the villagers themselves. Our focus right now is the future of Fiji, which is our children.

Aha! ...OUR CHILDREN'S FUTURE he says. Well, if you recall the caption from the above picture of one of the children whose future Voreqe is talking about here....it is fitting to say...

THAT OUR CHILDREN WILL REMAIN OBLIVIOUS TO WHAT VOREQE TRIED TO DO TO MAKE THEIR LIVES "BETTER", BUT THEY WILL SURELY KNOW ABOUT HOW HE RAPED THE RIGHTS AND FREEDOMS OF THEIR ADULT MOTHERS, FATHERS, GRANDPARENTS, AUNTS, UNCLES, SISTERS, BROTHERS, COUSINS, ETC WHO EXPERIENCED HIS DICTATORSHIP SINCE DECEMEBER 5, 2006!

Mark our words Voreqe!

Voreqe's command-and-control style COSTLY!

We wonder how Voreqe is feeling these days with the on-going BAND-AID solutions he and his current military regime operatives are currently on. It seems that their on-going effort to save, rescue and recover our nation's treasures, in terms of resources, life style, finances etc is cyclical with no REAL measure or proof that their mission to clean-up and reform our nation, according to their wishes is going to bear ANY fruit SOON or even LATER for that matter.

The power grab, to be the commander and controller of everything from "leading" to "supervising" is a mark of a man who lacks the TRUST and RESPECT for those he works with. No wonder this mission of his WILL GO NO WHERE! These TWO valuable foundations of our human existence, rendering us superior to animals on Earth (apart from the other values we SHOULD possess) are totally lacking in Voreqe, thus, this is a reminder to him that HIS CAUSE IS A LOST ONE!

Voreqe you are creating a WASTEFUL FIJI with your lack of transformational leadership, emotional intelligence, achievable actions, etc. Your AMBITIONS totally lack the foresight and true intentions of a citizen who has Fiji's best interests at heart. Your clean-up is way past its USED BY DATE. You should now descend from that priviledged throne of Fiji's Prime Ministership, which you STOLE!  And give Fiji's leadership back to the people of Fiji to CHOOSE!

Mark our words - The longer you HANG-ON to the leadership you STOLE, the longer YOU prolong our trip down to national-destruction lane. Your children and your grandchildren will PAY! Mark our words...you may not be around to see them suffer the consequences of your selfish actions, but they WILL! God works in Mysterious ways!
The choice is yours and it is clear - HUMBLY ADMIT YOUR MISTAKES, step down from the pedestal you're currently on (you and your "NAMU" family) AND LET THE PEOPLE OF FIJI CHOOSE THEIR LEADERS. WE ARE CAPABLE OF IT!

Vessel to leave after PM’s inspection

A government vessel will ship emergency relief supplies to Fiji’s northern division after Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama inspects what is on board once he returns from a visit to cyclone-hit areas in the region.

Acting director DISMAC, Pajiliai Dobui told FijiLive that Bainimarama is expected to return from a tour of Vanua Levu and the northern division later today.

“The Iloilovato awaits the PM as he wants to inspect what is being taken to the Lau group following the massive destruction caused in the Lau group,” said Dobui.

Bainimarama left for the north yesterday.

Dobui said the majority of relief supplies were delivered to the northern division over the past two days.

“I believe that suffices their immediate needs as well as health and agricultural needs required urgently.”

No pay obligation then No work obligation on National Youth Day!

This is most certainly a CATCH 22! Ok then...if the Ministry of Labour is not obliged to pay their workers for the two days lost to "an act of God"...then it is most certainly FAIR for the workers to take their HOLIDAY on the ALREADY calendared National Youth Day on Monday rather than have to come to work on THEIR HOLIDAY to make up the days LOST! Makes sense right?

THINK ABOUT IT WORKERS! YOU SHOULD NOT LET SOME NOT-WELL-THOUGHT-OUT BUREAUCRACY DICTATE TO YOU WHAT YOU DESERVE OR NOT!

Since the disaster is an "act of God" and is also WELL BEYOND your control as a worker, on top of the imposed curfew, you should not be penalised for it by not getting your TRULY DESERVED two days pay!

Maybe it's time that the ILLEGAL government look into this matter. Maybe a law that covers upto 5 days of paid work due to an "act of God" and then no pay after that period would be sufficient...don't you think? Rather than penalise you for the two days pay and then EXPECT you to go to work on your HOLIDAY!

Fiji’s employers have been informed by the Ministry of Labour that they are not obliged to pay their workers for the two days that they stayed at home this week following a curfew imposed because of Cyclone Tomas.

The ministry’s director of labour and compliance Sadrugu Ramagimagi provided the Fiji Employers Federation with the clarification today, at the Federation’s request.

Ramagimagi told FijiLive that under Fiji’s employment laws, employers are not required to pay in case of natural disasters described as an “act of God”.

“Occurrence of things beyond our control leads to employers not being able to provide employment, eventually resulting in no pay being given out,” he said.

Ramagimagi said the government’s announcement that next Monday’s National Youth Day public holiday would now be a normal working day was sufficient to make up for the days people had lost and therefore workers should not be complaining.

He said it was obvious that people cannot work when there is a natural disaster because they would have to choose between work and their safety.

Ramagimagi agreed that workers would not be happy with the decision but he said this was not the first time such a step has been taken.

“Previously when the nation had stopped working in case of an act by God, no pay was given,” he said.

Ramagimagi added that in normal circumstances, employers had to provide work and pay but not when it was impossible for them to provide work to employees with a curfew imposed.

“There is no obligation to pay unless there are existing contractual agreements to pay,” Ramagimagi said.

Fiji WILL bounce back but Voreqe SHOULD bounce out!

It's time to bounce back and stick together as Fijians in the nation. Right on Voreqe! And while we're bouncing back...IT IS TIME you bounce OUT and leave us to work collectively in PEACE without the FEAR you create with your GUNS AIMING at us. So, we can again build a prosperous nation paradise like it was before your December 5th coup and domino effect of devastation thereafter!

That's the message from ILLEGAL Prime Minister, Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama as he today announced the relief efforts that have started following the devastating effects of Hurricane Tomas.

He said three navy vessels are leaving today with emergency supplies and the NZ, Australian and French air force aircraft will also be assisting in relief efforts and aerial surveys.

Commodore Bainimarama said Fiji is also blessed that the most densely populated areas in the main regions were not severely affected by Hurricane Tomas. We are blessed because the collective prayers of a nation of people who are suffering in YOUR HANDS VOREQE is being heard by their Father. Imagine if He had thought otherwise!

There is an audio file attached to this story. Please login to listen.

Commodore Bainimarama said citizens in the Northern region, the Lomaiviti and Lau groups have suffered the brunt of the hurricane experiencing winds of upto 240 kilometres per hour. What happened to the island of Koro in Lomaiviti is the result of your visit. Remember Jonah!

He said the government's first priority is to carry out an assessment to determine the full extent of the damage.

The ILLEGAL Prime Minister said while carrying out these assessments, emergency supplies including food and water will be delivered to the affected regions.

Commodore Bainimarama said apart from the three navy vessels leaving today with emergency supplies, government vessels Iloilovatu and Raiyawa will leave for the Lau and Lomaiviti groups with more supplies.

They will also carry planting materials from the Ministry of Agriculture, the RFMF Engineers and public servants who will be deployed to carry out emergency work.

Commodore Bainimarama also stresses that he wants to schools and medical centres affected by Hurricane Tomas to be up and running as soon as possible. It's like a RUSH RUSH mentality with this military regime! For goodness sake...of course we want normality but don't make it like it's the BE ALL AND END ALL! And that is YOUR PROBLEM, Voreqe! You think QUICK FIXES like your coup is going to solve ALL our problems QUICKLY! IT WON"T!

There is an audio file attached to this story. Please login to listen.

The RFMF Territorial Engineers will be deployed to commence work on the priority areas of schools, hospitals and medical centres.

Other military personnel including the navy will also be part of the deployments. THIS IS WHAT THE MILITARY IS ONLY GOOD FOR - assistance to build our nation rather than TEAR IT DOWN WITH THEIR GUNS! Bring on the White Defense Paper, so, we can downsize this over-inflated and over-budgeted military to make them more efficient and more effective as an organization who can OFFER real assistance to our devastated country.

Commodore Bainimarama has also acknowledged France, Australia and New Zealand's assistance.

AHA! we thought your bossom-buddies CHINDIA will be the first to offer their assistance...huh! The stone (democracy) and the countries that abide by them that YOU rejected Voreqe, is and are the first stones that have come to your aide FIRST!

We will NOT be treated like Prisoners in our own land!

Ever since Fiji's military imposed courts, in particular Judge Madigan and his so called "independent" assessors found the eight men alleged to have plotted the dictator Frank Bainimarama's assassination guilty, the brute force of Driti from behind the scenes and the illegal entities in the Police Force and DPP's office start to make "LOUD" noises. Reminds us of the saying we used to hear in primary school or at home -

First let's look at the recent outburst on military culture and traditions by Driti, as reported in the FBCL site. http://www.radiofiji.com.fj/fullstory.php?id=26278 Tuesday, March 09, 2010

“The military has its own customs and traditions and these customs and traditions are shared to blend into society. Military personnel will always respect it. The customs and traditions of the military will always override the general customs and traditions of society in the way we practice it.”

In that regard, we’re both respectful of society but treasure and practice self-discipline, something very, very sacrosanct. So both, conventional units and elite elements, they also go through the same customs and traditions training, that is the special forces unit also.”

Reading or hearing this contradictory speech, one can clearly see (again!) why and how this military regime's focus is so OUT OF SYNC with normal societal values because as Driti said here - "The customs and traditions of the military will always override the general customs and traditions of society in the way we practice it." Well that is ONLY for the KIND OF MILITARY you're currently a part of Driti, NOT THE WHOLE MILITARY INSTITUTION, AS PART OF ANY CIVIL DEMOCRATIC SOCIETY in the world.

Driti, we know that COURAGEOUS, RESPECTFUL military personnel like the ones in NZ, Australia, USA, UK, France, etc don't share the same "military" values/culture/traditions you espouse to.

And you of all people to talk about CHOICES!

Driti says the actions of the five former CRW soldiers in plotting to kill the Prime Minister was their own choice, and not made because of their military skills or lack of social and cultural skills.
Driti says, “I am talking about their own choices in life here. If these group of men had wronged about their loyalty to higher command regarding the case in 2000 which is to overthrow government with the civilian group that came in, then they have again wronged.”

Jeez...talk to us about the choices YOU made to deprive us of our freedom and our rights! Where is your RESPECT for us as civilians? You don't have any, thus, your choices will come back one day to haunt you.

And here is a wise reminder for all of us: 1 Corinthians 4:2  "Those who are trusted with something valuable must show they are worthy of that trust."

In line with what we are currently experiencing...Driti, you and the military were NEVER EVER TRUSTED (or ENTRUSTED) WITH OUR VALUABLE LIVES...thus, you trying to show your WORTH, is and will be irrelevant now and forever, no matter how much you shove and bully us through with your decrees and rules by force!

Further to this, the international community, especially lawyers who obviously are well-versed in international law and all it entails, know that the judiciary in Fiji and its current crop of coup sympathisers amongst the law faculty is nothing to boast about. Here is the proof from Radio NZ International:

Mr Khan’s Lawyer, Peter Williams, QC, says even if new charges of some sort were brought, extradition would not be a possibility:
“There’s be no obligation, no extradition would ever be granted because an extradition would have to be to a country where there is a legal government, and there is no legal government, the government in Fiji has been held by the supreme court in Fiji to be illegal and unconstitutional.”

Driti, Voreqe and co., You want to treat us like prisoners in our own land BUT WE WILL NOT LET YOU HAVE THAT SATISFACTION FOREVER. We will stand up to tyrants. Men and women in the past histories of our existence on Earth have stood up to dictators in their land and some have been imprisoned and tortured for it - ALL FOR BELIEVING IN THE FREEDOM THEY KNOW IS THEIR RIGHT TO HAVE - AND THEY HAVE WON!
Marina Nemat, a Christian girl, in her memoir Prisoner of Tehran told how she was imprisoned and tortured when she was only 16 during the Islamic revolution in Iran in 1982. She said this on page 130, which is a very poignant reminder to us, who are currently being treated like prisoners in our own country by the military who uses FEAR as a cowardly tactic to keep us from voicing our concerns.

Quote:

The government had shut down several independent newspapers, accusing their staff of being enemies of the Islamic revolution. I felt as if the country were slowly being submerged in water: breathing became a little bit more difficult every day. But we remained optimistic believing they couldn't possibly DROWN EVERYONE!

Unquote.

How far are we going to let the military regime push us? We have to take a stand like Marina "believing they couldn't possibly drown everyone."

GOD BLESS FIJI! GO DEMOCRACY!

Military discipline and honesty for nurses - What a FARCE!

WHAT THE CRAP! DISCIPLINE AND HONESTY HAS TO START FROM WITHIN A PERSON FIRST AND FOREMOST BEFORE IT CAN BE REINFORCED BY ANY TRAINING WHATSOEVER. DISCIPLINE AND HONESTY COMES FROM COMMITTING ONESELF TO A TASK WHETHER IT BE SPORTS TRAINING, ACADEMICS TRAINING OR ANY OTHER KIND OF TRAINING NOT JUST FROM THE MILITARY OR POLICE.

SO THESE GRADUATES ARE TO BECOME MILITARY-STYLE TOO IN THEIR SERVICES TO THE PEOPLE? THE MILITARISATION OF OUR WORKFORCE SHOULD NOT BE TOLERATED BY THE PEOPLE. WE SHOULD MOBILISE NOW TO NIP THIS STUPID THOUGHT IN THE BUD!

Fiji’s latest intake of student nurses have spent two days with the police and the military acquiring defence force style discipline, a nurses graduation ceremony has been told today.

Fiji National University School of Nursing director Albert McLaren told the ceremony that the school wants its graduates to have military and police training to help them develop discipline and honesty.

The school enrolled 200 students this year.

McLaren announced that intakes had been boosted from 123 previously to 200 this year.

Chief guest, Prime Minister CommodoreVoreqe Bainimarama, said government had increased the nursing establishment size “which is to grow over the next three years to assist in improved working conditions and more employment opportunities along with better services”.

Bainimarama said it was important to encourage doctors, nurses and health care providers in order to improve the public health system and the delivery of medical services to those on the lower end of the socio-economic scale.

He said rehabilitation works are underway in existing health care centers and hospitals and to purchase new equipment.

The government wants to improve health services to all Fiji citizens, Bainimarama said.

“This also means the government is focused in ensuring that nurses, integral to providing professional health services, are given appropriate equipment, training, work conditions and career paths.”

One hundred and twenty three students graduated with nursing qualifications today as part of the first graduation ceremony within the FNU since its establishment earlier last month.

FNU Vice Chancellor, Dr Ganesh Chand congratulated the students adding they were fortunate to be part of a historic event.

“Our role is to produce first class nurses in Fiji and we must ensure we produce the medical professionals who people benefit from,” he said.

Amongst the graduates were students from Nauru, Tuvalu, Tonga, Kiribati and Vanuatu.

Bainimarama said that considering the nature of work that nurses do, they make up more than 50 percent of Fiji’s total health professionals and are the single largest group within the health services sector.

The graduation was a big moment for Sereima Lala Vatuvatu, a mother of three who received the highest marks for the Bachelor of Nursing Science Degree.

Invictus - Our claim for our destiny: We are the master of our fate!

Invictus

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll.
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

Which religion to move Fiji forward? Conflicting messages from the illegal regime

The spiel by the Illegal President to the Muslim followers celebrating Prophet Mohammed's birthday seems to send out mixed messages to the people. Religion is always a very sensitive issue, but when it comes to nation building is should be approached with extra sensitivity. But here we have a regime puppet talking again with no idea whatsoever about the repercussions of his utterances.

So, if religion according to this pupper president plays an important role in nation building, why then is the Methodist Church banned from taking part in the process? Why are they branded as spies with no evidence to support the allegations? One can only surmise that the reason this regime is ill-bent in leaning towards the Muslim belief rather than Christianity is because their hierachy is littered with Muslim believers who are in the minority and support them, instead of their much needed Christian believers who are in the majority and don't support them.

Now, where is the NON-RACIAL, MULTI-FACETED society outlook that their illegal charter is meant to promote?

As we have always said, since the motive right from the beginning of this so-called "saviour mission" is for SELF-PRESERVATION AND SELF-PROMOTION,

NOTHING...WE MEAN, NOTHING THEY DO OR SAY WILL MAKE SENSE. IT WILL ALL AMOUNT TO NOTHING. THEY WILL TRY AND BUILD, BUT THEN IT WILL BE DESTROYED AS SOON AS THEY FINISH LIKE THE BRIDGES. THEY WILL GET THEIR SUPPORT AND THEN SICKNESS WILL FALL LIKE THE TYPHOID RAMPANT IN THE RA PROVINCE AFTER VOREQE'S VISIT THERE.

This is time religion plays an important role in the nation building and to move the country forward.
That was the message from the ILLEGAL President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau when he addressed members of the Muslim community during the Prophet Mohammed birthday celebrations at the Vodafone Arena said that

Ratu Epeli said the Peoples Charter has highlighted that we should work together for a better Fiji and come together closely to be united as one with high hopes for a better future for our generations to come.

He believes that religion lays the foundation of our future and how it will look but it will depend on us on what we do with it whether and we can accept each other in our multi-racial society will be the biggest challenge any religion will face in their everyday lives.

The 300 plus crowd who were present at the Vodafone Arena was then challenged by the President if they can live up to the expectation of their leader Prophet Mohammed and instead of making excuses.
